Most cardrooms have a limit on the number of bets and raises allowed. Usually only a bet and three raises (or four raises) are allowed on each round of betting. However, when there are only two players left in the hand some cardrooms allow unlimited bets and raises. A buy-in is necessary to take a seat at any poker table. In most limit games, the buy-in is set at 10 times the high limit of the table. For no-limit games, the buy in will generally be set at 20 times the amount of the big blind. One short buy-in is allowed per game, and you may only add to your stack between hands. Although the strategy of the game is complex, the rules of Texas Holdem poker are very simple and important for an online poker player to know and understand. In poker there are only five different betting actions to remember, depending on whether or not anyone has already made a bet on this round. Let's start with your options when someone has already placed a bet (known as opening the betting).
If you do not like your hand you can fold, relinquishing your cards and taking no further part in the hand. Any money that you have already contributed to the pot is lost. Once you have folded your hand it is placed in a pile of other discarded hands (known as the muck) by the dealer. Having touched the muck, your hand is now dead. It cannot be retrieved even if you were to realise that your hand had been discarded by accident.
However, let's assume that you do want to continue in the hand after someone else has bet. In that case you may either call or raise. A call involves matching the amount already bet in order to see the next card (or to see the showdown, if the last card dealt was the river card). However, if you particularly like your hand you may also raise, forcing the original bettor to match your raise if he wants to continue in the hand.
Of course, whenever you raise, the original bettor has the option to reraise, putting the onus back on you to match his bet to stay in the hand. When there has not yet been any betting on this round, you have the option of either betting or checking. If you like your hand (or choose to bluff) and decide to bet out, you simply place your bet in front of you towards the centre of the table. The other players must now at least match your bet if they want to remain in the hand.
If you instead decide to check, you are deferring your betting rights for the time being. Another player may now bet, in which case you may fold your hand, call the bet or raise (the action of first checking and then raising when an opponent bets is known as a check-raise). If no-one bets on that round then the next card is dealt and again the first player has a choice whether to bet or check.

Texas Hold'em Rules
A Texas Hold'em game starts with a round disc --commonly known as a 'dealer button'-- rotating in a clockwise direction by one seat. This button isa placemarker for the seat or player that is designated as the dealerfor that round. The dealer always has a positional advantage in beingthe last person to act in turn therefor rotating the button isnecessary for fair play.
The game proceeds with the two players to the left of thedealer putting a predetermined amount of money into the pot beforeany cards are dealt, ensuring that there's something to play for onevery hand. This is called 'postingthe blinds.' Most often, the 'first blind' -- the player to theleft of the dealer -- puts up half the minimum bet, and the 'secondblind' puts up the full minimum bet.
Each player is dealt two cards, face down. A round of bettingbegins with the player to the left of the two who posted the blinds.Players can call, raise, or fold when it's their turn to act.
After the first betting round, three cards are dealt face up in thecenter of the table These cards are called the 'flop.'
After the flop, another round of betting takes place, beginning withthe player to the left of the dealer (the button). During this and allfuture rounds of betting, players can check, call, raise, or fold whenit's their turn.
A fourth card is dealt to the center of the table, this is called the Turn or sometimes called FourthStreet
Another round of betting commences with the minimum bet now increasedto the higher limit
The fifth and final community card is dealt to the boad.. known as the River or Fifth Street
There is a final round of betting and a showdown with whoever is leftand has not folded
The betting structure in a limit game is limited to 4 bets/round. Letus use for an example a 50c/$1 game
Preflop and at the flop, the bets and raises are limited to the50c level.

At this level, there can be a bet 50-> raise1-> reraise1.50->reraise 2 -> callIf the betting is capped, each player who did not fold hascontributed $2 to the pot.
At the turn and river, the bets are doubled to the higher limit ($1)
At this level, there can be abet 1-> raise2-> reraise3 ->reraise 4 -> call
If the betting is capped, each player who did not fold hascontributed $4 to the pot.
If the betting was capped at each round, each player who stayedin would have contributed a total of $12
If the hand does not reach a showdow (someone bet and everyoneelse folds) the pot is awarded to the person who bet withoutany obligated to show their cards. They could have beenbluffing and stole the pot or they could have had a good hand Nobodyknows. This is what makes poker a fascinating game. Ofcourse, for allthis to be meaningful the game must be played for real money otherwiseeverybody just calls all the way to the river with impunity .
